Thank you for your interest in KnotStressed.

I established KnotStressed to provide therapeutic massage in Edinburgh, with a focus on supporting pregnant women and their partners throughout pregnancy and the postnatal period, promoting baby massage to new parents and encouraging parents to continue to massage their children as they grow.

I am a firm believer that everyone should have a regular 'maintenance' massage to ease muscle tension, promote relaxation, boost energy levels and promote well-being.

I have lived what I teach with the birth of my daughter in 2003 and I believe massage, exercise, breath-work, relaxation and discussion can help pregnant women and their partners adjust to the dramatic changes they are experiencing during pregnancy, childbirth and the postnatal period.  I believe massage can be a wonderful, fun and creative experience for young children - and as a parent an ideal way to promote better sleep as part of the bedtime and storytime routine!

Through working with children, it is obvious to me that fully-clothed peer massage in a school and after-school environment is a fun and great way for 5-12 year-old children to build confidence and friendships, reduce bullying and learn actively about a range of subjects through creating their own 'massage stories'.

Qualifications and Experience

I have Swedish Massage and On-site Acupressure Massage Qualifications from the Scottish Massage Schools, an APNT certified Diploma in Massage During Pregnancy from WellMother, as well as an I.P.T.I registered qualification in Indian Head Massage.

I am also an accredited Massage in Schools Programme instructor with six years experience working in environmental education in Edinburgh schools and communities.  This includes promoting energy efficiency to Edinburgh residents and schools at environmental charity, Changeworks, and working for three years as Community Education Officer at Edinburgh Council on the Waste Aware Edinburgh Campaign.  I have an enhanced Disclosure Scotland check and full insurance to work with school children and youth groups.

I am a registered member of the Association of Complementary Therapists (ACTh), Embody for You and the Scottish Massage Therapists Organisation (SMTO).
