Ayurvedic Foot Massage: Pada Abhyanga

This highly relaxing Ayurvedic foot massage uses special Ayurvedic oils and is not only revitalising for tired feet and legs, but as the feet contain key energy and nerve points relating to the whole body, also harmonises and relaxes the entire body.

The 'marma' points on the legs and feet are worked on to help increase the flow of energy within the body and to ease any tension.

Marmas on the right leg and foot are said to increase the body's metabolic processes.  Marmas on the left leg and foot are said to have a cooling, calming effect.

This gentle treatment is particularly suited to balancing 'pitta' functions of the body and is a real treat for your legs and feet, leaving them feeling renewed and re-energised.

The Treatment

Your treatment begins with a warm herbal foot bath that allows your feet to soak whilst a consultation is carried out.  You then lie comfortably on your back with the option of refreshing rose water pads being placed over your eyes.

Hot herbal oil is then massaged into the marmas on the feet, ankles, calves and and knees.  After both feet and legs have been massaged, hot wet towels are used to steam and therefore remove any toxins that may have been released along with any excess oil on the skin.
